Think about all the different ways the astralnaut candidates are tested and the different tasks they had to perform. Answer the following questions using at least 3 complete sentences PER question. You need to include 2 dressups in each answer so that you have used all 6 dressups.
- What physical skills, emotions, and personality/character traits are astralnaut candidates tested on?
- What are the testers looking for in an astralnaut?
- How do you think you’d perform on the astralnaut tests? Where do you think you would excel in these tests? What areas would you have difficulty with?
Copy the question into MS Word. Answer below the question using the Golden Rules. Proof read (COPS) it using WORD TALK. 5 sentences minimum (JM!) When you have saved the best copy, then copy and paste it into the comments below. Remember to include only your first name.
The astronauts are tested on low gravity so they are taken under water. They are also tested on how high they can jump from. Some of the astronauts are kicked out if they do not participate in some of the event of training. When it’s their bath times they pour ice cold water on you because it’s super cold in space so that why they put cold water on you. All the testers are looking for who’s most athletic at the event who takes the most time and why. How fast are they, how long they can stand without oxygen? I think I would perform at a exceptional place. I would excel at heights. I love going on really high heights like bungee jumping. I would have difficulty on low gravity raining I would probably drift of dome where or the other.

Kirit: you have discussed the physical attributes (characteristics) of the candidates, but no the mental ones. You haven't commented on what emotions, and personality/character traits the astralnaut candidates are tested on? What personalities and characteristics do you think they are looking for. Strong leaders only or team players? Details...evidence...?
DeleteI think they are looking for someone that is brave, nice, and social with other people but they also have to be able to stay under water for long and jump high.
ReplyDeleteThey are looking for someone that is strong, brave, fearless, top notch and nice and social
I think I would get a 5 and that I would excel at the swimming and jumping in the net and the spiny ride and fail at every thing else
Ryan
Some good ideas, Ryan. But what about a team player versus an individual who can work well on their own? Which type of person do you think they would prefer to have on this mission? Why? What in the book makes you think they're looking for a team player? (Hint: TUBE).
DeleteStarclimber Post#1Space Training- How Well Would You Do
ReplyDelete1. The physical skills they are tested and are being able to move because if you don’t know how to move swiftly you could float away. The emotions that you will be tested on are in important by like when they were in the cold water they were being tested on how they would react to cold tempters and so they can trust you. They are tested on their personality cause they want to know how you will get along with the others. They want to test you on your character so they know how to treat you and to see if you will do well in outer space.
2. The tester are looking for a brave and confident man to come with them to space and they want them to be able to skim though space like they are fling well relaxed.
3. I think I would perform really well because I would be younger so I would have more energy and I wouldn’t tire out as much as so adults who may have smoking habits. I think I would excel in the obstacles course cause I like jumping high and ducking plus dogging. I think I would have difficulty doing the underwater test cause I am not a fan of water as is Matt.
Abby
The physical skills that an Astralnaut is tested on to go into outer space are: Fitness, BEACAUSE to move around in space requires a HEALTHY BUT SWIFT body, and space quardanation, to practice quardanation is swimming under water cause it is the closest substance on earth to outer space! The emotions an astronaut is needed to go to space are brave, calm, and adventures!
ReplyDeleteWhat the testers are looking in an ADVENTRUS astronaut that will go into space are a brave but calm person to pilot there ENORMAS ship!
If I WERE in the astronaut tests I would do well on the underwater test, but I would fail on the bungee cords, WITCH WERE SUPER HIGH UP!

Some good points, Declin. What about team work, cooperation and other personality traits? Are they important?
DeleteWhat they physical skills they were tested on were going under water doing an obstacle cores. The testers were looking for a person that is good in the air so they do not need to worry about needing to take someone to the ground at any time. I think that I would not do well on it. I think on the obstacle cores is where I personally would do good because I am athletic. I think we’re I would do bad is the spinning one were you had to touch the colures and being in the toob.

1.) The physical skills that astronauts are tested on are how well they can work in an emergency, how well they can get in low gravity, and how they do when they are falling, or land diving. For emotions, they are tested on how they react with one another and get along, if they do not get along then it would end up horrible on the space ship because, they would always be fighting and everyone would be annoyed and tempted to throw one (or both) of them off of the ship to die in outer space!!! Well at least then it would be quiet. For the personality, they are looking for someone that cares about others and will help them if necessary.
ReplyDelete2.) The testers are looking for someone that is right for outer space and that is kind, that will be of help and that will be a team player. By someone that is right for space, I mean that will be strong in low gravity and will be fine at work with so many unknown stuff around. And by team player I mean, that will help out others like, how matt lost his tube thing, if that happened in outer space, they would want someone that would help out and at least try to save their life.
3.) I’m not too sure how I would perform, but if I was asked to go, I would really have to think about it, I feel it is really dangerous, they would be the very first to go into space and they have no idea what is up there. I would most likely be good at the underwater tests, I am very sleek and hard to catch if I can get under it, but in a big suit, I might not be as good. I would have difficulty with the land diving, periwigs, and the scrambler.

ReplyDelete1.Astronauts have to be strong but intelligent. They are tested on how they work under pressure with a little amount of time because in space if something goes wrong you could die if it is not fixed fast. They have to be serious and they need to be calm.
2.The testers are looking for them to act swiftly and calmly but be able to work fast. They are looking for people who can act brisk. They need people who are smart.
3.I ; who would like the opportunity ; think I would perform ok on the astronaut test. I think I would excel in intelligents because I am very smart. I would probably have difficulty flying a space ship.
Emma :)
1)I think they are looking for someone that is brave, nice, and social with other people because everyone will like them. But they also have to be good with working on their own any time they want even in space.
ReplyDelete2) Someone that is strong, helpfully with other astronauts brave, which is fearless of anything, and top notch and nice and social with other astronauts.
3)I think I would get a 5 and that I would excel at the swimming and jumping in the net and the spiny ride and fail at everything else.

ReplyDeleteIn space they have no gravity so they have to go places like under water to feel like they are Wight less also space is high up so they have to go on plat forms and then they will raze the up and get the Astronauts to all sorts of stuff up there like maybe jumping from the top! Another thing is if they do not do well they get kicked out of the program. The testers are looking for who is more athletic and more fit also another thing is who can do thing more quickly like fixing part of the ship. Last but not least they need to get use to the weightless so they can work up in space. I think I would do ok on this test because I am good at running and thing but it would be wired to feel weightless. A though thing I think I would not be good at it is that I am not the best with doing think like jumping from a plate from.

Some of the physical skills they will need to be a astralnaut are they will need good stamina for the obstacle course and the runs. They will need strong leg muscles, good upper body strength and arm muscles. Some of the emotions they will need are to be calm, grateful, kind, and helpful. They are tested on all sorts of character traits like how well they work under pressure how well they work with within a certain time, under water in their space suits so it feels like there is zero gravity. The testers are looking for big strong, calm, fast, guys with good stamina a good work ethic and efficient working. I think I would perform quite well on these astralnaut training tests. I would excel in the athletic part of the training. I think I would have difficulty with the testes that were timed, think inside the tube while it is moving, being too warm or too cold.
ReplyDeleteTrevor
I think they are tested on how tough they are because if you go to space you would have to be pretty tough. Also I think they are tested on how intelligent you are. Also how calm you are.
ReplyDeleteI think they are looking for someone who is a leader, although you could not get frustrated to lead . Also someone who is Canadian which is helpful. Also someone who is trustworthy.
I think I would perform very fluently. The places where I think I would excel the test is the leadership part. The place that I think I would do bad at is the holding your breath part. Why I think that is because it is hard and tiring.
Campbell :)
I think that the candidates are tested on how well they are with heights or scared of water and I think they are also tested on there emotions so if you felt homesick you probably not be going to outer space but if you are really happy and exited you might get to go to space. I think the testers are looking for strong and athlete guy. I think if I was in this camp I think I would get a 8 because I love swimming and I’m not afraid of heights but I think I would not do so well in the spinning test.
ReplyDeleteNICHOLAS
#1I think they are looking for smart, brave, strong, kind and social men because they need to beat the other countries. They need people how are willing to do the work helpfully.
ReplyDelete#2 I think that the testers are looking for strong and brave people to go to space. If I was looking for astronauts I would want someone that is strong, brave, smart and helpful.
#3 I think that I would do really well and I would get really nervous and freak out. I think that I would excel in P.E and L.A. I would probably need more help in Science and Math.
Mercedes
I think you have to be strong and fit. You also have to feel confident and not be afraid. I think that I would get 8/10. I would excel in the flying exercise and any of the running exercises. I would not do well in the spinning exercise because it would shake my brain around.

ReplyDeleteI think they were looking for someone with good stamina and had a lot of time in the extreme places like the deep sea or the high altitudes of the sky. Also they want a brave warrior. They also want a person who has knowledge about the animals that have not been discovered, for example, the airezoen and the cloud cat that Kate found. I think I would have preformed ok but I would not make it on the starclimber. I think I would be good at fixing things underwater because I love swimming. I think I would be bad at flying because I am scared of heights.

ReplyDeleteThe physical skills are being active, being able to soar through the sky and being able to go into small enclosed spaces. They have to be very trustworthy and determined. They have to nice to people that they are with. The testers look for an ability to soar through the air smooth and if you are strong. I think I would just pass because I can jump from high places without getting super nervous. I would not do good in the tight spaces. So I might excel or I might not.
Cassi. :)
1.The physical skills that astronauts need to go in to outer space are: strength because you were to float and you would need to get yourself down you would need strength to do that. And you would also need strength if the space ship were too crashed. The character traits they need are: brave, strong, smart, kind and social people because they need to beet other countries. They need people who are willing to do the work to go to space helpfully.
ReplyDelete2.I think the testers are looking for caring, smart, strong and I think braveness. To go up to space.
3.I think I would perform by doing really well and I would probably start freaking out, although I think I would do very well. I think I would excel in S.S and P.E because I would do fairly well in those subjects. and i would need more help in L.A and math.

ReplyDelete1. They are tested on energy and emotion and strong in them. And going into space. And they are looking for active in going into space. And they are looking for nice in the people to.
2. The astronaut are looking for active in them and emotion an brave for going into space and to feel like you are ready to get started. And they are looking for physical and personality and .
3. I would perform in the swimming station because it would be easier to handle with and I think I would have difficulties with the other stations.

1)The physical skills the astronauts are tested on are how tall, short, skinny, big they are and how built they are. They are also test on how well they can do the tasks they are given. The emotions the astronauts are tested on are how well they act in a tight space, how well they act when they are in a hard situation and that they don’t get mad, sad or grumpy with other astronauts when they make a mistake and to be a good sport. The character traits the astronauts are tested on are how well they connect with other astronauts, how well they are getting along with others, respecting the captain, having respect for others and working as a team.
ReplyDelete2)I think the testers are looking for a good person who is nice to others, determined, a hard worker, respective of the captain and respect others.
3)If I performed in the astronaut test I think I would be pretty good at most of the tests. I think I would excel in the swimming test because I am a pretty good swimmer and I love swimming. The test that I think I would have difficulty with is the tube test that gets hot then cold the hot then cold because it is hard to think and it is a small tube and I am not a big fan of small spaces.

ReplyDeleteThe astronauts are tested on how they move in zero gravity, how good they are with high altitude, how good they are with spinning out of control, and how good they fly.
The testers are looking for people good at flying, people that are good at maneuvering in zero gravity, and people that are good in high altitudes.
I think I wouldn’t be a good astronaut. I would excel at the high altitudes , I would also excel at she zero gravity. I would not excel at the test writing or at the spinning out of control.
Austin.R
I really like your honesty, Austin.I would not excel in zero gravity either: I think I would get sick. And you don't want to vomit in space...!
